2010 --  Plumas National Forest Volunteer Day

The Plumas NF will host a volunteer work day with Portola High School and the Plumas County Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation in celebrating National Hunting & Fishing Day! The day will involve the installation of a 1,800 gallon wildlife guzzler.

 

2010 --  Plumas National Forest Bluegill Fishing Derby

The Plumas NF will host a kids bluegill fishing derby at round valley reservoir (Greenville) to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day! All kids 15 and under are invited to attend free of charge for a day of fishing and fun activities.

2010 – NHF Day Feed the Hungry

SCI San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is again hosting a "Feed the Hungry" event  to promote National Hunting and Fishing Day. We will be providing more than 60 pounds of meat/fish to serve 100+ people at the Salvation Army's Senior Nutrition Facility.

2009 – California Waterfowl's Women's Pheasant Hunt Weekend

Try hunting at this camp for the aspiring huntress which includes hunter ed, gun safety, and a pheasant hunt with an experienced guide and a dog. $150 for license, upland game stamp, hunt and lunches.  Loaner guns available. Lodging not included.

 

 2009 -- Cuyamaca, Big Plans for NHF Day

The annual Orville P. Ball Fishin' In the Pines Kids Derby goes from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tournament honors Ball, the former city lakes manager who was responsible for the stocking of Florida-strain largemouth bass in San Diego County in 1960. The fishing derby is free. Registration starts at 8, and fish must be weighed in by 11:30 to be eligible for prizes. There will be a raffle, and all kids attending will receive a goody bag with a reel and other fishing gear. Lunch will start around 11:30, and once again the San Diego Anglers will work the grill. Mario Ghio at Sportsmen's Seafood on Mission Bay is donating the fish for the barbecue. Hot dogs also will be grilled. The lake will be stocked before the derby. Volunteers will help get kids geared up to land Cuyamaca's trout.
