New York State’s Sportsman’s Day

This two day event is one of, if not the, biggest celebrations of National Hunting & Fishing Day in New York State. This event is open to all ages, physical abilities and genders and gives people who may, otherwise, not have a chance to try their hand at outdoor sports activities, the opportunity to do so in a safe, supervised environment. Activities that visitors may participate in include, but are not limited to:

  • Shotgun clay target shooting
  • Muzzle-loader shooting
  • Air Rifle shooting
  • Bait fishing
  • Fly fishing
  • Archery, both vertical and crossbow
  • Canoeing/Kayaking
    etc.

In addition to the hands-on activities, there are also educational/interpretive displays in our exhibitor tent, and other on-site locations which include, but are not limited to:

  • The North American Model of Wildlife Conservation;
  • Birds of Prey;
  • Stream/Lake Ecology;
  • Firearms saftey/cleaning/storage;
  • Environmental Law Enforcement/education;
  • Taxidermy;
  • College of Environmental Science & Forestry Timber Sports team and educational displays by many member organizations of the Onondaga County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs [OCFSC] (RMEF; Ruffed Grouse Society; Pheasants Forever; Trout Unlimited; NWTF; Finger Lakes Retriever Club; etc.).

The 2022 event is our 39th year providing this outdoor sports experience to the public.
