Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on

Fly Fishing Clinics

9/14/2018, 9/21/2018, and 9/28/2018 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM 

Located at Coastalia State Fish Hatchery 

n addition to fly-fishing instruction by ODNR Division of Wildlife staff and volunteers, attendees will be able to test their newly acquired skills by fishing for the abundant rainbow trout found in Cold Creek. Anglers may also encounter an occasional brown trout and brook trout.


George Hilf Annual Bowhunter Rendezvous & Shoot

Located at Deer Creek State Park 

George Hilf annual international bowhunter education rendezvous and shoot. At the lodge, no cost. 3-D shoot. 30 targets. 


43rd Annual Kid's Day

9/22/2018 starting at 9:30 AM 

Located at the Leetonia Sportman's Club

Activities will include shooting, archery, and fishing contests for all children ages 5 to 16. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Children may bring their fishing rod if they have one, but do not bring a rifle or bow. There will be prizes and a wiener roast. Everything is free of charge.  3D archery shoot; benefit for Buckhaven Learning Center; $13 per shooter. Families invited; bow raffle, 10 gun raffle for 12 combat-wounded veterans to be held in October.

Hunting for Food

Have you ever been interested in hunting for yourown protein, but aren't sure where to start? This program is for you!  No previous hunting experience required and all equipment is available for loan. Spots are limited and will be drawn from the application pool. Applications are due by Sept. 5 at 11:59 p.m. and can be found at The multi-season program is free, and participants are responsible for their hunting license costs (process covered in the program).

Session 2: A Day at the Range. 10/17/2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM 

Basic crossbow and range safety, crossbow shooting practice and shot placement education

Session 3: A Day in the Woods 10/20/2018 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Looking for deer sign, learn woodsmanship skills and finding a place to hunt 

Session 4: Mentored Deer Hunt 11/3/2018 to 11/4/2018

Participants will go on a mentored crossbow deer hunt, learn about tracking and learn about field dressing and caring for the meat
