2009 – National Hunting and Fishing Day: University of Fl. Wildlife Expo

The University of Florida Wildlife Expo is being held by the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service with the help of some fine sponsors including Buckmasters, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, the Florida Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation Commission and Alabama Game and Fish. 
This year’s event will have information and activities for the entire family.  We are striving to have an outdoor experience through a variety of topics on wildlife, food sources, ATV and shooting safety, and current hunting regulations for Alabama and Florida.  Demonstrations will also be ongoing that include some native wildlife and birds, archery, equipment use and scoring antlers correctly.  The kids will have a lure casting competition in the afternoon and there will be raffles, prizes and lots of food, entertainment and fun.  Come out and meet the professional biologists and other speakers that will be present at the Expo, learn a lot more about the outdoors, and just have a good time.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Not only is the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) a supporter of National Hunting and Fishing Day, it is also a major promoter of the Get Outdoors Florida! coalition (GetOutdoorsFlorida.com). Get Outdoors Florida! is working to address these health issues that are described as “nature deficit disorder.” Besides that, by getting outdoors and engaging in activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking and wildlife viewing, research shows that youth develop greater self-confidence, a sense of responsibility and better social networking skills. http://oscnewsgazette.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4729&Itemid=10

2009 --  First Shots Program Offered on NHF Day

This Saturday, Sept. 26th, is National Hunting & Fishing Day (NHF Day). In connection with NHF Day, Ranges in Connecticut, Oklahoma, Florida, Louisiana, New Hampshire and Ohio will be hosting First Shots seminars on Saturday. There is also a program in Phoenix, AZ on the 24th. If you know someone who wants to get started in recreational shooting, attending a First Shots seminar can be a great way to go. Organizers provide everything one needs — guns, ammo, targets, safety gear, and instruction. Here’s a list of Ranges that will be holding First Shots Seminars in connection with NHF Day:
